One
common misconception is that "if you pray enough or fast
enough, your church will grow".
Another misconception is that, "if I build or buy a better
or bigger building, the people will come".
While the spiritual components are critical and while having
a comfortable environment is essential, these are not the
main reasons why pastor's fail to see the growth in their
ministries that they desire. In actuality, the reality is
much more basic.
Think about it for a moment. Everything about the Kingdom
of God is simple. God saw to that. All Jesus' parables used
every day common concepts. So why is growing your church so
difficult? We believe it is because we have over complicated
something that is naturally simple and in the process violated
natural laws.
Let's use the analogy of a farmer. You, pastor, are the farmer.
You've been given ten acres of prime land. What is the first
thing you should do? Well among other things, one of the first
goals has to be to get seed into the ground, right? Because
without seed in the ground you have no chance of getting a
harvest, right? So why does it make sense in the natural but
we lose the concept when we come back to the spiritual? Why
do we think that our church will grow (harvest) without first
putting seed into the ground? The seed in the case of church
growth is simply "inviting people to attend". And
that's really all Ministry Marketing is, simply inviting people
to visit.
How does McDonalds get you to visit and buy a Big Mac? They
market (advertise). How does Mercedes Benz get you to spend
a small fortune on their luxury car? They market and appeal
to your desire for their product. So here again, why is it
so difficult for us to understand how to grow the church?
But before we can embark on a Church Growth Campaign it is
first essential that we understand the
dynamics of a successful church visit. I mean,
let's face it, your church can't grow without visitors coming.
And if those visitors don't come back then all the marketing
in the world won't help you.
So, how does a church create an Experience
for visitors that is powerful, impacting, memorable and has
them talking about your church days after the service is over?
If you think the answer to that question is of value to the
life and growth of your ministry then you need the KMS
Visitor Impact Analysis.
The Visitor Impact Analysis
is designed to give you (the pastor) a detailed report from
the perspective of the potential visitor. We then give you
detailed suggestions in a report for improving any problem
areas. The net effect of this report will enable you to clearly
identify problem areas and address them before any Church
Growth Campaign is initiated. This will then give the ministry
a much better opportunity of attracting, keeping and converting
visitors into productive members. |
